Welcome...

In the United States, in Europe, and elsewhere, terms like "accountability" and "responsibility" have a sort of currency right now that's difficult to describe. It doesn't really mean what it once mean. It seems, often enough, to be aimed at "those people," whether they be the poor as individuals or as nations.  It seldom means owning the mistakes that have led our world into this situation and it seldom means being responsible for the creation of a better world.

On this blog, I (and whoever else would like to join in) hope to stand for a different kind of accountability. Those who attack the poor for their own political gain ought to be held accountable.We--all of us--must take responsibility for the kind of society we have and would like to have.

So, here, we'll try to tell you about the new war on poverty, the one taking place right now, around the globe, that imagines those unlucky enough to be born poor or have fallen victim to circumstance need to be attacked. We'll try to re-imagine these ideas and this metaphoric war along the lines of Lyndon Baines Johnson--and beyond.
